Pre-Construction Evaluation

How To Prepare For A Roofing / Siding Project And What To Expect

We take a great deal of care and preparation when it comes to servicing you and your location. We also want you to be prepared for when we come out so that your experience is as smooth as possible.

  • Be prepared for the noise. Roofing and/or screen crews will probably start early in the morning. There will be constant hammering during the construction process. You may want to plan a day away from the house while the job is in progress.

  • Remove all loose items from wall shelves and walls such as pictures, plates and figurines. Hammering may create vibrations that could shake these items off shelves and walls.

  • Remove all items from around the exterior of your home where roofing and/or siding debris or bundles of shingles might fall: patio furniture, potted plants, gardening equipment, grills, etc. We take every precaution to protect your plant, trees and shrubs.

  • We may need to use power tools for decking repair, ridge work or vent installation, so please be prepared to provide an outlet for our use.

  • Please move your cars, motorcycles, bicycles, boats, etc. away from the house and garage while work is being done.

  • If you do not have a ceiling in your garage or attic and can see the bottom side of the roof decking, move or cover all items that might get damaged by granules or small pieces of felt or shingles falling through the spaces between decking boards. It is especially important to move or protect cars, boats, motorcycles, lawnmowers and all mechanical equipment or items with valuable finishes.

  • There will be trucks loading shingles and/or siding and other supplies.

  • KEEP SMALL CHILDREN and PETS AWAY from WORK AREA.

  • During construction, if rotted wood, deteriorated or deflected decking is found, Assured Roofing will not be held liable. This is your responsibility. We may replace rotted wood, deteriorated or deflected decking on a time and material basis.

  • Nails that fall from the roof during the job will be picked up with a magnetic roller. We will make every effort to pick up all the nails. Please be advised, however, that a few nails, hidden in the grass, may remain.

Maintenance Tips

Image

Keep an Eye on Your Shingles

Keeping your shingles clean and new can reduce risk of algae or other fungi that may grow, compromising the integrity of your roof. However, if the task is too daunting, give us a call.

Trim any Overhanging Branches

Fallen branches will potentially damage your roof, but the real threat is the collection of leaves that mount up. They retain moisture and rot tiles reducing the roof’s overall integrity.

Replace Your Sealant

Roof sealant can last up to 10 years, but many forget to replace it after that. Sealant is a useful tool to keep your roof safe and prevent leaks.

Clean Your Gutters Regularly

Clogged gutters can spell disaster for a roof. Accumulated water can seep into the structure of the roof, causing significant harm to the foundation.
